DIY Halloween Costumes
Halloween has always been one of my favorite excuses to get creative – and if you’ve been around here a while, you know I love a good DIY costume moment. Before we dive into this year’s ideas, I’m sharing a few photos of my past favorites below for a little inspiration (and maybe a laugh or two). They’re proof that with a bit of imagination (and usually a last-minute Amazon order or two) you can pull off something clever, cute, and totally photo-worthy without spending a ton of time or money.

You don’t need a full Pinterest board or weeks of prep to nail a Halloween costume. Each of these ideas below is easy to recreate with items you probably already own – and they’re guaranteed conversation starters. These all work great for last minute ideas as well as most are available on Amazon or have quick shipping.
Dirty Martini Costume
When in doubt, go as a cocktail. This DIY Dirty Martini look is cheeky, fun, and perfect for anyone who wants a costume that’s low-effort but high-impact. Think olive-toned pieces (a green sequin skirt or dress) and statement olive earrings. Bonus points if you carry an actual martini in hand 😉

Iconic doesn’t even begin to cover it. Channel Meredith Blake’s unforgettable camping scene style with this black and white Abercrombie workout set, a backpack and you cannot forget the lizard on the Evian water bottle.
Jeremiah + Chocolate Cake from TSITP
IYKYK! For couples who want something recognizable but not cheesy, this duo from The Summer I Turned Pretty is a total win. One of you dresses as Jeremiah – recreate his work outfit with a striped tie and navy pants. While the other shows up in brown dress with raspberry colored accessories, bonus point for holding a piece chocolate cake. It’s clever, unexpected, and instantly will get love from fans of the show.
Cozy Night In Outfit
Not every Halloween celebration requires a costume party. If your perfect October 31st involves a scary movie marathon, pumpkin candles, and a bowl of candy, this is your costume. Lean into the “comfy but cute” vibe — festive sweater, fuzzy slippers, and maybe Halloween-themed cocktail in hand in cute glasses. It’s simple but still feels festive.
