A new era is loading…today marks one decade since I started this little space on the internet. While I still relate to that girl I was 10 years ago, this page—and this brand—has evolved so much over the years. Truthfully, it’s been ready for a facelift for a while now. With a new city under my belt and, more recently, a new last name, it felt like the perfect time for a rebrand.

So please allow me to reintroduce myself as Shelbi Doran. Don’t worry, It’s All Chic To Me isn’t going anywhere as it remains a huge part of who I am. For those who don’t know the story behind the name, it comes from the phrase “It’s all Greek to me”—a way of saying something is confusing or hard to understand. But fashion? Fashion was always something I understood, even on a small budget. And more than that, it is something that has always brought me joy.

When I started this blog back in 2014, I was fresh out of college, just beginning my first “big girl job” in the energy industry. I was living with my parents, making pennies, and trying to figure out my purpose. With almost no social life and a craving for something more fulfilling, I decided on a whim to start this blog. People always asked where I got my clothes from, so I thought, “Why not create a space to share my outfits?” I started documenting what I wore to the office every day—mostly pieces from TJ Maxx or items I stole from my mom’s closet. I was determined to look chic on my tiny budget, and I wanted to show others that if I could do it, anyone could.

Fast forward to 2024, and I’m so proud of the girl who got me to where I am today. I’m proud that I didn’t listen to the doubts—the inner voice that whispered, “You’re not fashionable enough to have a fashion blog.” I’m proud that I ignored the high school girls who sent my Instagram stories around, asking, “Who does she think she is?” I tuned out the dates who questioned whether I had a “real job” and the well-meaning concerns of my parents, who said, “You’ll never make any money doing this.”

I had no clue what I was doing 10 years ago, and some days, I still feel like I’m finding my footing. But what an incredible ride it has been! The blog has grown far beyond fashion. It’s no longer just me here—I’m married now (still can’t believe I have a husband yall!), we’re dreaming of starting a family soon and the Chic team is also growing! On top of all of that, I have so many exciting business ideas in the works. With all of these new chapters unfolding, this rebrand felt like the perfect way to honor how far we’ve come and set the stage for all of the future possibilities.

This milestone is more than a celebration of the past 10 years, it’s a promise for the future. I’m incredibly grateful for each of you who has joined me on this journey, whether you’ve been here since the single Sam days or just recently found your way to this corner of the internet. Your support, feedback, and encouragement have been the heartbeat of this blog. I also want to take a moment to thank my dear friends Ryan and Ben from Alyan Solutions for the most beautiful website facelift and rebrand.

So, here’s to Chapter 2: a decade of discovery, growth, and so much more. I can’t wait to share what’s next and continue exploring life’s adventures with all of you. The best is yet to come!
